Volvo Shows Off New XC60 Plug-In Hybrid in Detroit

Sure it's easy to say that Volvo focuses on the safety of its consumers, but what about the efficiency of its vehicles? Economical models like the Volvo C30 are certainly a step in the right direction, but we here at Mitchell Volvo know that there's more to efficiency than just compact vehicles, like hybrid, electric, and plug-in models too.

And this is exactly where the all-new Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid comes into play. The vehicle is clearly performance driven, packing 350 horsepower under its hood, but it's also efficient with its plug-in hybrid powertrain. The vehicle features an all-electric driving range of about 35 miles, and its hybrid fuel economy ranks in at about 100 mpg.

Of course, if you're worried that Volvo spent too much time on efficiency and not enough on safety, you have nothing to fear. "We use all our world-class knowledge to ensure that they are as safe as all other Volvos," explains Stefan Jacoby, President & CEO, Volvo Car Corporation. "Our holistic approach included every aspect of day-to-day usage. And these cars go through our stringent test program, ensuring that the battery and high-voltage system are properly protected in collision scenarios that can happen in real-life traffic."1

Want to get your hands on some plug-in Volvo action? Unfortunately, the vehicle isn't bound for U.S. shores in the near future. A diesel variant of the concept is slated for a release in Europe later this year. However, if you're dedicated to getting the most fuel economy out of a Volvo that's possible, then be sure to stay tuned. Everyone here at 4980 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23462 is dedicated to keep you informed.
