Volvo Sheds Larger Engines from Lineup

Volvo is planning to overhaul the way they produce their vehicles in the future, and we here at Freedom Volvo could not be more excited! The Scandinavian automaker has already outlined plans to streamline production through the recently developed Volvo Environmental Architecture (VEA) approach, as well as through modular scalable platform architecture (SPA), and now they've added one more aspect that will really shake things up: The decision to exclude V6 and V8 engines from its lineup.

That's right, while models like the Volvo XC90 and Volvo S80 may have a sweet V6 roar right now, soon they'll be powered by a more efficient 4-cylinder engine. This announcement came from Volvo President and CEO, Stefan Jacoby at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it speaks volumes to the commitment that Volvo has taken to giving its customers the most fuel-efficient and luxurious vehicles imaginable.

According to Peter Mertens, Volvo R&D Boss, "Both our new architecture and the new engine range will enable us to be on par or even beat our toughest competitors in crucial areas such as driving dynamics and fuel economy."1

Of course, those of you who won't settle for anything less than a V6 can still take the Volvo XC90 for a test drive at 4980 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23462 simply by contacting us online or by phone at (888) 209-8305.
