Volvo Plans to Introduce Two More New Models

Are you excited for Volvo's 2012 model year yet? If not, you will be soon. This, after all, seems to be Volvo's goal as of late. Looking for the newest proof in this theory? Volvo has just announced two all-new models for 2012. This news comes hot off the heels of the announcement of the upgraded S60 and XC60 R-Design. The two new models are the V70 R-Design and the S80 Executive.

The S80 Executive sounds classy, and rest assured, it is. Just by looking at the car, you can tell it was designed to sit high atop, and stand out form, the current lineup. This is the first Volvo model ever to feature leather upholstery in either black or brown. What could be more exciting than that? How about leather seats that are capable of giving you a massage? Yeah, that has got us pretty excited!

Volvo had been preparing to work on a new flagship, following the success of the Volvo S60 sedan. Now, though, those plans have been delayed in favor of a renewed focus in their current offerings.

There are no plan for a flagship and competitor, says Stefan Jacoby, Volvo CEO in an interview with Automotive News. After their purchase by Geely last year, Volvo had been given a goal to create an upscale model, capable of competing in the German luxury car market. A focus on their current line of vehicles is the direction that the company will take, says Jacoby.

Two things car buyers certainly look for when finding their next vehicle are safety and entertainment. Volvo understands this which is why, come 2012, Volvo will be adding a lot of safety and infotainment features to its XC70 crossover and S80 flagship sedan.  Among the new features  to be added to the Volvo XC70 and S80 are the latest Volvo Sensus system; enhanced technology that makes driving safer and more comfortable; and in markets overseas, refined turbodiesel engines that reduce fuel consumption and improve performance.
